Once your website is set up, it’s time to find keywords for what you will write about.

When you are creating content, one of the things you will hear repeatedly is keywords.

With this post, I want to show you helpful tips that you can use to find keywords.

As always, if you have questions, leave me a comment below. If I don’t have the answer, I will find someone who does. Together, we will learn and teach each other the latest and greatest.

There are a few different keyword services that are easier to use than others. But let’s start with the basics and go from there.

What Are Keywords?question-mark

They are the main point of the content you are writing. It is also the search term that you want to rank for when others do an internet search.

An example is, “What is a keyword?”
It would be fun to see how fast this blog post takes to rank on the first page of Google results.

Talking about keywords is a hot topic today. You might also be hearing the term SEO from time to time.

You can’t talk about one without discussing the other.

SEO is Search Engine Optimization. It’s simply what search engines (such as Google or Bing) use to rank your website.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t worry, we will cover SEO soon!

These are important because it is ultimately what search engines like Google will look for. The search engines will rank you on multiple things, but keywords are one.

I found it interesting that Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines update their search algorithms regularly. So this is something to keep in mind.

If you follow some basic steps and information, you will continue to rank for the content you create. But remember, you don’t want to stuff your content with the terms you wish to rank for.

The algorithms don’t like that and will show poor readability (how easy is your content to read).

The crazy cool thing is that you can also rank for keywords inside your blog post.

There are ways to find this out, and if you are interested, let me know. It involves getting set up with Google Search Console and Analytics.

Both these will help you with Google traffic.

They are complicated, but they offer some fantastic insight. I am considering creating a post about analytics in the future, but let me know if you are interested.

I mention this because I have found that I am ranking for keywords that I didn’t intend to. That is amazing, and once you see those hidden terms, you can build on them.

Where Do I Find Keywords?magnifying-glass-search

As I mentioned, there are a few places to look at. I’ve looked at many different services over the last few years. Some are expensive, some offer free trials, and I started paying for one.

The two sites I visit most often are Jaxxy and Ubersuggest.

I have found both above to be easy to use, excellent customer service, and affordable. If you join Wealthy Affiliate, you can have Jaaxy as part of your service!

If you are wondering, I have been using Jaaxy for the last year and have liked how they put all the information. It’s effortless to use, and they even offer suggestions on similar keywords.

Jaaxy gives you a few different types of information on keywords. Three of them are

  • The average amount of traffic the keywords gets
  • The domain name (if it’s something you want to own)
  • Competition of the keyword, as in how easy it is to rank for it

A Free Keyword Tool

I have just touched on what Jaaxy has to offer. I know that this post is about finding keywords.

So why not give it a try?

It’s free, after all. You can perform a keyword search below to see for yourself.

Using Keyword Tools

As with everything, there are free and paid-for services. The paid-for services provide more information and allow unlimited searches.

Some, such as the free search above, make it easy to read and use.

When you are looking for your keyword tool, here are some things that are important to look for:

  • Speed: Find keywords that will drive clicks to your website quickly.
  • Finding extra information regarding meta tags, backlinks, and ad placements.
  • Having more suggested keywords to choose from will help you get ranked in search engines.
  • You can get the most information on a keyword by looking at sites already ranking for the terms, competition, and additional market research.

You Got Thisthumbs-up

When I first started looking into keywords, I was overwhelmed and didn’t understand everything.

You might have guessed, but there is lots of training about keyword research at Wealthy Affiliate.

And, if you missed it, once you sign up with Wealthy Affiliate, you also get Jaxxy lite included!

Are you still overwhelmed with keywords, or how should you find them?
